Tinted Glass

Last week someone brought in some Burnes of Boston photo frames and had me mount some photos and fit them in the frames with spacers. (I'm not proud and I charged about $35 each for the 8x12s, so don't give me a hard time about this.)

What was interesting to me was the glass in those frames. We all know that most glass has a green tint. Usually, it's not real noticeable unless you look at the edge of the glass but the glass in these frames looks like the tinted glass in my van.

I compared it with some premium clear and the B of B glass was really dark.

I have no idea why I mentioned it here. I'm not all that bored.

Honest.

Most B & B frames I've looked at don't have much room for fitting a spacer so you earned every penny squeezing them in. Must be mood glass in there.

If the ratio of boron to manganese is greater than 12-1/2 to one AND the glass is heated to a slightly higher temperature or baked for an extended length of time ...

Aw, heck … I dunno … I’m just making this up.
