This reminds me of the discussion going on about the customer with the wrinkled watercolor/ calligraphy art.

I just had a customer bring back a small watercolor that I had recently framed for her with a double mat.

She walks in and apologetically says that it is crooked. So I get my ruler out and measure it and say "Yes, it is crooked, off by less than 1/16th of an inch" - and she responds "You know, when I was walking up your steps I looked at it, and thought to myself it didn't look as crooked as it had been at home. I had measured it and it was really off."

Well, thanks to the other discussion - I was armed with educating information regarding the humidity and cause and affect on items, especially those made of paper!!! Discussed the fact that with humidity the paper and mat boards and materials will be "fuller" and stay put, whereas, when the humidity drops - which it has in the last couple of days - there is room to move. And this piece moved!! Now that she is aware of this - she didn't have a problem. I offered to open the frame package and refit.. but she was very comfortable with the knowledge I had shared.

THANK YOU GRUMBLERS!
