This moulding stinks!

I just cut up four 8ft lengths of burl veneer moulding. Beautiful and expensive sticks of wood. Three of the lengths cut as expected but the fourth stick....peee-uuuu.... Smelled like $&!# and I mean that literally. I'm instantly transported back to Grandpa's pig barn.

I run into Stinky moulding before but never this bad.

What causes this?
