In case anyone missed it, one of our fellow Grumblers (Val) has been ill. The community has stepped up to help.

Several grumblers have generously donated their time to work in the shop for a week, to tackle the backlog of over 100 pieces. MANY have sent checks and cards, or donated frequent flyer miles, to get others out there. The vendors have also stepped up, by making special arrangements and even covering the hotel bills for the visiting framers. Reps have volunteered to cover some days. Steph, Amy, Bob Carter, Baer, and others have helped coordinate/organize the support.

Val is now out of the hospital and recovering. At this moment, Baer and Rob are there. Mike and Ellen will be on duty next week. Amy will be on duty the week after. There may be others... Some do not wish to be named.

This generous action has even received media coverage, from the local ABC affilliate.

It's humbling to see our community coming together like this, to help one of its own!

Mike, it certainly does prove that there is more to the Grumble, than grumbling.

We're like a big family, there are always some disagreements, a few we wish we weren't related to, but in the end everyone sticks together.

Any chance of getting a video link to that news story?

Mike-I appreciate the praise, but my part is so insignificant to so many others

A better statement might be " a few did a lot, some did more than most, but everybody can do something"

Bottom line: If you are part of the everybody, the you can do something

Wow, it's finally like the exact opposite of some of the flaming messages going back and forth on some of the nasty threads. It's about time.

It makes me happy to be associated with such giants in our field. You are all wonderful people as well as; creative framers, master craftsmen and inspiring business managers.

This place is like having hundreds of angels watching over us. Val has been in our prayers as well as all of those who were able to help out in any way.

The Grumble is just like family in that we can bicker back and forth but when the chips are down we all pull together.

I'm sorry, but are there REALLY any nasty threads in the last 9 days?

If so, I'm sorry they weren't on my radar. I deeply apologize for the lack of serious caring. I'll try not to be so pre-occupied in the future.

From where I'm standing, bathed in the light of warm caring love, I think Hilly and Baraky have become best buds, the Sunnies and Shia have become family and are not intermarrying, Hamas is now part of Isreals Parliment, and Dufar is the new Dubai.

If I'm wrong..... don't wake me up, I'm on a total Enya high.

All kidding aside, the responses of some Grumblers toward Val's plight are nothing short of fantastic. All of the volunteers are special friends, but Baer has really shined in his generosity and work to spearhead the effort.

I had no idea... and wow! Aren't grumblers an amazing group of wonderful caring people!

My prayers and wishes for a total and speedy recovery go out to Val and praise to those involved in orchestrating the help Val has needed and those volunteering their time and efforts.

Amazing.

Stuff a sock in it Miller. That was no spear head, my Prius just wanted a good long road trip and kidnapped me. I was kicking and screaming the whole way.

Ok, maybe it was only toe tapping and singing... which in my case sounds a lot like cats in heat . . . . or screaming. :D

But seriously, as my wife put it sooooo succinctly: "How could you NOT go; you'd just blow that money in your IRA anyway."
And then there was the little voice that kept whispering.... "if you go, Rob will come".

But really and seriously, if you thought I was doing anything special, you weren't there Tuesday afternoon as we opened and read a 6" stack of some of the most amazing cards, and checks. Anything I did pales in comparison to some that post, and some that only lurk. Thank you all that have contributed, and those yet to.
