First, I was joining a frame and the join was not to my standard; so I have to re-do it;

Next I was drawing some simple ink lines (3 red and 2 blue) on a mat for an architectural print, and I connected the wrong points; so I have to re-do it.

I decided to do no more back room work today and start early and finish tomorrow.

What is your worst framing day, (ignoring health, etc.)?

I've had a bad week with the holiday orders - three frames were unavailable, so I had to back order one and substitute for the other two. One that I found a substitute for has to be UPSed to me b/c the Larson-Juhl guy isn't delivering his normal schedule this week.

In the meantime, I shot v-nails through two frames (one I cut down, the other I have to re-order two legs), I ordered a linen liner to OUTSIDE dimensions, and they sent it to me the same size as the frame, so I had to cut it down.

While cutting down the liner, the corners wouldn't meet in the vise - it turns out my sander was out of alignment by about 2 degrees so I spent an hour and a half recalibrating just to do the liner. Today I spent another hour putting the fillet into said liner, go to use offsets to attach the painting, and I don't have offsets big enough for the 3/4" strainer that the artist used. I gave up and I'll fix it Monday!

The real pain is that I have two sweaters to shadowbox, (one is the frame being UPSed and the other was one I shot the v-nail through) and stupid me, I offered the customer the option of using Museum glass! Stupid, stupid, stupid....

I once mounted a zippy cutter right into the top of an irreplacable sports poster. It was in my first year of framing, and my heart dropped when I opened the press and saw the havoc I had wrought. My boss worked for ages and managed to get the poster off with unseal, then remount it. It looked such that some people wouldn't have liked the results, but this guy was
happy as a clam.

That was sixteen years ago, and the couple who first trained me live in Texas now. He must not have held it against me, as they called this morning with Christmas love. I really appreciated his patience as I was learning, and from that day on I double checked everything.

Well things have been going quite smoothly lately. I haven't had to order any molding as I had enough for all my Xmas orders in stock. That is, apart from one frame that I had only had three sides for. I could have used an alternative and the customer would have been quite happy, but it annoyed me a bit as I was sure there was some more of this molding somewhere..... Could I find it? Could I f-fairy cakes.:mad: I haven't much storage room so my molding tends to get piled in a heap. Every time I went to get some out, I looked for the missing molding. I gave up in the after a couple of weeks. Ordered some more. Today I was pulling out some molding for a few other jobs. Guess what I found? :icon11:

btw. Shayla. If I said you had a beautiful poster, would you hold it against me?

(Sorry. That was and opportunity up with I could not pass.)

I'm smiling at your funny comment, Peter. As I have made a vow of restraint on this forum I am not at liberty to answer your charming question. However, please consider it enjoyed. Now if you'd asked it in Warped.....
