I have been using Firefox many years ago, starting with "Firefox 2" and have been using it as my #1 browser ever since. Wellllllllll.... yesterday, I updated it from Firefox 28 to Firefox 29. For a few minutes, i really regretted doing so, until i discovered "Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) 1.1.8". It restores squared tabs, app menu, add-ons bar(!!!!!!), small buttons view and a bunch more.
Basically, it is now back to what came with Firefox 28. There are so many people teed off at the new Firefox 29, i believe "Classic Theme Restorer v1.1.8 is saving their Firefox's a$$:bdh:

I kind of like v29. Has the modern look of its peers. Very different, though!

AHA!!! Thanks for the warning. I'm sticking with 28.

Samsung upgraded its Andriod operating system a while ago, and the new version sucked. Couldn't go back, too.

So 28 it is. That and XP.

Well Mike. I don't mind the "modern" look, BUT, there is a lot missing in Firefox 29. That's where "Classic Theme Restorer v1.1.8" comes in handy...

Dont be affraid to updating to Firefox 29, but, if you do be sure to add "Classic Theme Restorer v1.1.8". By doing so, you will see NO differences between Firefos 28 adn Firefos 29.

I don't like it, it's a bit too different. That being said, I say that all the time when things update & I do usually get used to them in the end!

It took a bit of getting used to that they moved the menu from the left to the right, to make room for the tabs on top. But everything seems to be there.

They kind of copied Google Chrome's layout. The current version of IE is similar, too. Safari still has the older format.

Change is always difficult, but usually for the best - once I'm done grumbling about it! :)

As far as Android, I've always liked the upgrades/improvements. Our phones finally received the Kitkat upgrade last week (4.4.2), so now we can do wireless payments with the NFC chip. (near field communications) Can pay at the market, gas pump, etc without lifting a credit card. I havent tried it yet.

I couldn't find the menu bar (which I keep hidden) until I read about the ALT button. The ALT button may not be new to FF but it was new to me. That was one thing that even Classic Theme Restorer v1.1.8 didn't restore.

I think that windows auto hide thing was added in 2006 with Vista.

The menu for the new one is on the right (3 lines) (under the X)

If you'd like to display the older style pull-down menu bar all the time, just right click up to the right of the tabs. Click MENU BAR to enable. Then it should be there perm. The same advice applies for the BOOKMARKS TOOLBAR.

To enable the menu bar/addon bar right click right click the task bar and select them. Done.

I have FF set for automatic updates so occasionally I will get some surprises - but not too many.

Chrome is my default browser and FF is used mainly for development. My main FF development tools are Firebug and Web Developer and they seem to be up to date whenever a new version of FF is released.

I also have IE, Opera and Safari installed for web site testing.

Firefox is my default browser. I just upgraded to 29 a few days ago and installed the classic theme restorer so that I could get the tabs back where they belong! I hate them being at the top of the screen. Makes no logical sense to me!

I've had no other issues with the new version, so far!
