Since I now have a Wizard, my old C+H straightline cutter is now used mostly for jobs like cutting spacer and shadowbox strips to consistent widths. I've always had to mark these and cut to the marks because the cutter has no mat guide on the straight-cutting side. So, I have made a jig that acts as a guide for consistent-width straight-cut trimming. It consists of two t-track boards with appropriate knobs and nylon washers engaging the t-bolts to hold a clear 1/8" acrylic guide. This is thick enough to do the job without restricting the movement of the cutter head. The positioning scales are digital photocopies of my favorite ruler, applied to the boards with a covering of clear packing tape to avoid abrasion of the numbers. Works like a charm. Bonus is that it stores in what would have been wasted space under the mounted Wizard, and pulls out for easy access on the very table that used to be its home before the Wizard arrived. (This pride of place prevents "sibling rivalry" between the machines.)

Isn't it easier to just use the wall cutter, a chunk of say 8-1/16" x 12.3491887" or anything else you have laying around, and couple of tabs of ATG. Oops, forgot the ruler and pencil.

measure and mark the width of what you want on the sheet you will be cutting. Slide into the wall cutter to where it will cut that measurement.

Now, from the other end... gently slide in the waste chunk with the atg towards the backing plate.... when the two boards meet, push to adhere the ATG.
Now you can slide the large sheet up to the stop, cut, and repeat. 20 strips of 1/2" or 15/16" in just a few minutes.

this was invented because we no longer have room for the in-line cutter.

Hey Rick

I use my wizard for shadow box strips. Do it as a multi opening.

ex. (2) 16" x 3/4" and (2) 20" x 3/4".

I usually cut them a bit longer and shave down to size with a sharp blade.
