Searching For the grumbler who does fundraisers for animal shelter

I've looked and looked and can't seem to find and remember the
who it was that does the fundraisers for their local animal shelter.

They have an event where people come in and buy a 5x7 canvas to paint
and the framer frames it. Then it goes up for auction?

I'm in the process of doing an event like that and I'd like to pick their brain,
since they have experience on what works, what doesnt'

In October, I load the front window . . . that gets about 50-100 walkers a day....
along with or without a dog.

All 8x10 photo frames.... which I refill with pictures I download from the
Oregon Humane Society's web page of "dogs available for adoption".
I stick name and the "available for lasting relationship." on the photo..

As the dogs get adopted, I get a call, and swap out the photos.

We have sold several of the frames when people bring their new companions
by to meet us and say thank you. The companions get a treat, the new
owners get a great dog.

October is "Adopt a dog month"

Just got the signs in: tomorrow we start displaying feline and canine art, which, when sold, the gross proceeds go to the local shelter. So we don't have to handle money, the buyers of that doggie (picture) in the window give me a cheque made out to the shelter, and I mail it off together with a donation request for the materials. The labour is free.
