For those of you in So. Calif. or for those of you snowed in that want to go somewhere warm - - There is an exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art that may be interesting to you "The Frame in America". I haven't seen it yet. For those interested, here is a review

We all know that when framers go to an art museum they really are looking at the frames. Is this a first when everyone will focus on the frames?

About Time!!

I recently went to the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC (for the umpteenth time) and made a wonderful discovery. The guards know a great deal about frames, as well as about the art. And, do they love to share their knowledge!!
So, next time you visit an art gallery, ask the guards about the frames. You will be amazed.
I learned that 95% of the paintings at NGA are in their original frames.

When "The Frame In America" was in Columbus last year it got great reviews, but less than expected popular response.

Personally, I thought it was a very impressive display, both historically and artistically.
