SOme ofyou know my passion for Audobons. It was interesting to read the article in April PFM about their restoration by a Philadelphia organization.

Few questions I would have liked to have answered:

1) Why is no one in the pics wearing gloves?
2) What frames are being used or considered?
3) What width are the mats?

I ask because I have several of the Amsterdam editions and am considering a couple of the prints now being issued by Oppenheimer of Chicago who, along with Taylor Clark in Baton Rouge, are the premier experts in this area.

Mike,

How can I say this??

Uh, have you accidently crossed paths with my ex-wife out there on your NC property??

That's the exact way that she always tried to spell Audubon when we were married!

Nope, haven't seen her, yet anyway. Yeah, that's what happens when you don't use spellcheck and are doing it at work.

Mike,

If you like reproductions, check these out - they are beautiful. I framed 9 of them last summer with 36x48 Regence #481 Antique Black over Red Remain and Gold Lip, Crescent 87540 linen Mats, LJ 131912 Fillets, and Museum Glass. A very nice ticket. The prints are stunning and live up to the hype expressed on this web-site.

Pat: familiar with the Princeton edition having bought several and sold them in about two weeks. And the website's no hype: almost as good as the Amsterdam editions printed in the late 80s. Still cannot wait to see the new Oppenheimer edition, tho. Might be worth a coupla grand to buy one or two for investment or put on Ebay in say five years.

By the bye: the Princetons were on ebay awhile back for a few hundred. And those and the Amsterdams are dead ringers for the originals.
