Every time I shut down my laptop it seems to come back with fresh quirks. I just noticed a little red circle with a white X inside by the speaker icon on the bottom, it says "The Audio Service is not running."

But I just put in a CD and it is playing just fine.

And still the icon tells me "The Audio Service is not running."

Huh?

If I am not listening to Audio, what am I listening to? :help:

Also - every time I completely shut down my laptop I have to log back in to the Grumble from scratch - although when I begin to type my name all I have to do is type "F" and it fills in "Framar." I have the box checked "Remember Me" but it then sends me to a page with this message: Invalid Redirect URL (http://www.thegrumble.com/forum.php) and then if I click Forum I get here.

With the desktop I was able to shut down every night and stay logged in to the Grumble for years at a time and only had to log back in with software upgrades.

Audio Service is apparently running again, no more Xs.

I am confused.

I don’t have any trouble with The Grumble log in, but I am experiencing the same thing with trying to get onto The Dog Pile. It ignores my “remember me” and forces me to go to the bottom of the page where my name and password are already filled out. All I have to do is click the button, but it’s a bother to have to scroll down past all that yellow text.

If that is the case, then Bill has to get in there and change the redirect addy - because that is the one that pops up after I log back in.

Try bypassing the log-in at the top right of the page and scroll directly to the bottom (past the yellow "be nice" instructions).

For me, logging in at the bottom doesn't give me the Invalid Redirect URL, but goes straight to The Dog Pile.

If that fails, try giving Bill McKay a heads up.

Good luck.

I get either the yellow text block page or the little yellow block at the top of the forum menu page. Last night I accidentally hit my "home page" icon whilst I was typing a response to a thread and there came a new Grumble page, asking me to log in, even though down at the bottom I was listed in that area with current members viewing.

No place to log in at the bottom of either page - just the top - and I have to keep checking the Remember me box - and my password comes up without me having to type it.

Oh Bill? Bill? :o :icon45:
