Grey Owl
SGF, Supreme Grumble Framer
Hello everyone:
I have just completed my second year in framing in October, and now starting my third. I want to thank all of you for your help and support while I'm relearning the framing profession. I'm I did some about 40 years ago, and boy has it changed. After I "retired" from my other job, I have returned to framing.
I just reviewed my 5 year plan, and generally I'm on track, and slightly ahead of plan. My plan is to consider myself competent at the end of the 5 years. I'm selling more than I initially expected, and my margins are better. I'm using the additional revenue to take more classes via those offered at conventions and the local PPFA chapter.
Each year I try also try to add new areas of expertise. For 2009 I expect to do more in mounting and framing fabrics, and learn a little more about guilding.
For 2008 I added fabric wrapping and fillets. I expected the fillets to be part of mats but all of my fillet sales to date have been as part of the frames!
Again, thanks for your help, and expect continued questions of ignorance.
Russ
