I've been a "sewing is the "right way" kind of guy," but I had these 14 golf flags (originally 18 when the order started) to do. They were nylon, and they were coming in after the start of the tournament on Thursday and needed to be done by end of tournament on Saturday. So, I thought; "let's give it a try."

Then, as many of you know, I ripped my achilles. So, I have 14 flags to do in two days, AND I'm a gimp getting tired quickly from all the crutch usage!

Attach-EZ to the rescue! I can't believe how quick and easy that was!

Of course, I bent one needle.

Pat, In the next design, could you make the needle stand up to a 200 lb framer falling when his crutch slips and the needle is embedded?
I'm sure you could put that in the next design specs. I think I stepped on the little one when the kit went flying.

BUT, ALL done and it's not even end of day on Friday!!

Thanks Pat!

P.S. Thanks to Greg at Frametek for FrameSpace too. flags were mounted on mat with brass plaque below, and 1/2" FrameSpace on the glass. A LOT easier than try to build mat spacers like I usually do!

Cliff, you are supposed to leave the needle work on your leg, to the doctor. DO NOT stick the Attach-EZ in your leg again.

But it is great to use on Pin Flags. Try it there next time. :D

Yes Sherry, I did wind up coloring the ends. I thought I would put it in the white part of the flag and not have to, but I wound up putting it in a green part.

The color pens that came with it were not dark enough so I used the markers I have for touching up mitres. It would rub off if I touched it soon after, but if I colored it and let it sit for 15 - 20 min, it wouldn't rub off at all, so I figured it was fine. I just colored a few "sticks" of the 1/2" tabs and let them sit until I needed them.

Glued my mat to foam and "tagged" through flag/mat/foam. Held well. You could see them if you knew what to look for, but it looked quite nice!

Cliff - I use PrismaColor art markers for my mitres. Is that what you use?

No doubt it looked really nice!! I'm certain that if the 'gizmos' are colored to a near-match, you can't see them from a distance......no one would be looking for them.

How's the recovery going? Do make sure your doc gets you into a decent physical therapy department.....that will be key!

My best!

Cliff, I am so glad that it worked out so well for you. Sometimes it takes one of those huge jobs that needs to be done yesterday to make a believer out of the framer who is resistant to change. It sounds like this was the case with you.

You may not believe this but I hear it all the time from framers who just didn't want to give up sewing, but then 15 jersey's came through their door one day and life changed as they knew it.

Cliff, If you look on the inside cover of the pen case you will find the directions on how to use them to create all kinds of colors to match. For instance; use the gray on the fasteners first and then once it is dry dab the darkest green over the top of the gray. This will darken the green. Sometimes I will just put dots of black on a color that I want to look darker, and this will give them illusion of being the matching color.

NOTE: For everyone who is using pens to color match the fasteners, the pens should be UV fade resistant, pigmented, and acid free. Many of the Scapbooking pens will work and will say right on them whether they are archival and pigmented. Sharpies will fade over time, so I would not recommend using them for this application.

Thanks Pat!

Sherry, had the surgery yesterday. My wife wants to go tot he cape to recuperate, so unless I get near a wireless center I won't be back on until at least the 5th.

Some pain, but the cut me open and sewed my tendon, so I guess there should be some. Have avoided the pain meds so far.

Well, off to recuperate, and thanks again Pat!

You are very welcome Cliff. Glad to be of help. Have a great time at the Cape. While you are gone I will work on finding that needle that will hold 200 lbs. It may take awhile though, people might complain if the holes are to big.

Keep us informed about your healing progress. We'll be sending good vibes your way.

I'm not sure how this ended up posting twice. It's very strange.

OK Pat, I suppose I could loose a little weight. Do you think the needle could handle 185 lbs? ;)

They were thrilled with the flags BTW.

Now, I just need to get this cast off my leg. I actually have a lot of work to do!

Operation - no problem; stitches - no problem; crutches - no problem; but d*mn, I didn't know I was going to have to stab myself in the stomach every morning! Have to give myself a blood thinner shot. what a pain!!! oh well, one week to go, then I get a new cast and can go back to work. hope the customers don't go away?!?!

I'm sure your customers will wait for you to get back on your feet...or should I say foot. At least those who are worth having will. I do know how you feel though...I was just diagnosed with Bells Palsy this morning and it has really slowed me down, which was probably a good thing.

The Doc says that it appears to be a very mild case which should go away soon and shouldn't leave me with any long term affects. I'm saying my prayers because right now I look a little bit like I've been socked in the eye. It's also quite painful...as I'm sure your injury was so you understand how hard it can be to concentrate on work when you are in pain. That's why I'm here writing this post instead of working in my shop....where the work just keeps piling up. Pretty soon I may have to dig a tunnel through all my show samples and pending frame jobs just to get to my CMC.

Feeling a little down today and not really wanting to go back to work, after I left the Dr's office I drove out to watch the progress of our new house....they were pouring the basement walls today. While there taking picture I was stung 3 time by bees and got a bite from some other little pest that itches like...oh my gosh!

But there is one thing to be really grateful for............I don't have to give myslef shots! Ouch!.....get better soon and have fun.

Next, you ought to try the Attach-EZ kit for object mounting. I LOVE IT!!!! Bless the woman who developed it!

Have fun on The Cape!

Pat,

I had Bells Palsy about 30 yrs ago. Had a "severe" case and went around for a few months talking like Crazy Guggenheim (sp?) (Boy, now Red Skelton WAS FUNNY! Just knowing that name probably tells my age, huh?)

Took me months to "look normal" and even today, when I get very tired, my wife says my left side droops.

Just read an article that said they have tentatively linked Bells Palsy to Lyme's Disease. Hope your Dr. checked that out. When I had it, they just shrugged their shoulders and gave me steroids. Who knows if they helped, or it was just time healing.

About two weeks after it happened I had to got o a wedding that my wife (to-be at the time) was a bride's maid in. Funny pictures of me with a straw in a beer bottle and a napkin held to the side of my mouth so the beer wouldn't come out.

It;s tough when any part of your body doesn't work well. I remember my left eye being unbelievably sore, because it didn't blink itself often enough.

Good luck with it. I don't even remember I had it unless someone reminds me!

Cliff, As it turns out it appears that I am one of the lucky ones. It only took a week for the facial droop to go away. The new anti viral drugs on the market are what helped the most I think. My Dr. told me that Bells Palsy is a virus that attacks the nerve of the face and could last anywhere from 3 days to 3 years. And yes, he did test me for Limes. I haven't heard how that came out, but suspect that it will be negative since the med's they gave me worked so well.

Limes definitely could have been a possibility though because we are building a new home out on the river bluffs and one day when I was there taking pictures a deer came and stood so close that I got a beautiful picture of him. I have also found a few wood tics after being out there. The Doc said that 15% of the Deer tics in MN are infected with the bacteria and since they are so small you could have one and not even know it.

I'm right in the middle of shooting a demonstration DVD for Attach-EZ and still have some work to do before it's ready. Last week I could have qualified for Scary Movie Part 3 and was afraid that the whole project would have to be put off for awhile. Boy am I counting my blessings. Fortunately it now appears that the show will go on as scheduled. I was hoping to have it ready by the Atlanta show.

Hope your trip to the Cape went well and you are convalescing. Are you still there or back to work now?

Glad that worked out for your.

I'm back to work, but not really working.

My niece is in helping or I'd get nothing done.

at least a week behind right now.

it's a good thing people are being understanding!
