Today I dragged myself out of bed early to attend the Gulf Coast Chapter meeting and workshop. Jennifer Roby, MCPF, of Bradley's Art and Frame in Houston led the class on sgraffito.

Jennifer showed how to easily modify existing mouldings with this elegant technique dating back to the 16th Century. I was surprised at how easy it is to execute with very low cost materials, and everyone attending had a great time and took away another tool to add to their creative arsenal. Local education like this should be one of the most compelling reasons to support the PPFA.

Thank you, Jennifer, and a special thank you to Larson Juhl for hosting the workshop and providing lunch.

Those Texas meetings are always productive for the attendees. They seem to have a knack for coming up with workshops and lectures that are fun as well as useful.

Texas framers are genuinely friendly, too. The last time I went to Texas it was Austin. I just had to see the Alamo, so Bob G. took a carload of us to a "real" TexMex restaurant, then past the Alamo on the way to the Riverwalk. Let the good times roll...
