I'll be framing several signed Tarkay prints. Regular prints I would mount on 3/16" acid free mounting board. I was thinking I should mount them on ragmat. I would use clear mounting strips to hold the print in place. If ragmat is the way to go, what ply (2,4,8) should I use?

If these very valuable Tarkay prints came from one of the main sellers, Park West Gallery. You could follow their lead and use good old masking tape. Which I have seen them do on some very costly pieces that they sell. I actually have seen some on display in their Southfield gallery that were float mounted and you could see them pulling away and the masking tape visible.

The size of the prints is a determining factor in selection of the substrate materials. If the prints are similar to the Tarkay prints I have framed, then I would suggest fine paper edge supports or a Platform Mount. Hinging by Japanese paper and starch paste would work, as well, but that method is more invasive and less secure.
