Tall wood frame bowing at sides

I offered to re-cut the glass for a friend's 34" x 12" wood frame, but upon assembling I see that the long sides of the vertically hung frame are bowing out. Is there a method to secure the mid-section of the bowing sides to keep them securely vertical? The frame is otherwise still good.

I use a piece of matboard about 3 inches wide, glued and stapled across at the center. Push the two sides together after they’re glued, then 2 or 3 JT21s.

Instead of using a paper dustcover, you could glue on a frame-sized matboard dustcover, which would be effective, good looking, and not much work. Bevel the edges and paint them black, or use a black-core matboard.

For a better result, use 1/16" or 1/8" thick PVC sheeting (aka Sintra) and attach it using brass escutcheon pins. or better yet, if the frame is at least about 3/4" wide, use #4 x 1/2" or 3/4" flathead screws, which will countersink themselves neatly into the plastic sheet without need of any preparation. That way, it would be easier to remove.

This is me go to solution. Hanger straps. And you can put a dust cover over as usual. #6 flathead screws keep to taught and flat.

I'll usually run a wire across the frame, at a slight angle, pull it tight, then run it back to the first side at the same but lower angle, pulled tight.
This makes a sideways 'V' shape. It is easier on metal frames as you can start loose, and move the 2 brackets out slowly until they are where you want them.
I used to use a wire with Turnbuckles. It worked great, but was hard to find a good source for the turnbuckles, and it cost a few dollars more.

This sounds interesting! Do you have a photo of how you place them? This might be very useful when you dont have enough space for a support/brace that I suggested.

Here you go. Most times it’s just 1 strap though.
