I have a stretched canvas that is almost 3 in. tall; and customer would like a "warm maple (goldenish maple)" floater frame. The outside edge will have to be at least 3.25 to 3.5" tall.

Anyone have a source?
thanks

Sue, if none come up with one for you, I have a suggestion. Go to a kitchen cabinet dealer (HD or Lowes) and order 4" maple fillers, which you can get up to 8' long. You will then be able to construct them yourself and they will already be finished. Of course they will be 3/4" thick.

They also have maple boards planed down to 3/8" and 1/4" thick in the mill dept. but you would have to finish yourself.

There are a few makers of finished corner wood frames that could ertainly build it custom.

My first call would be to fellow Grumbler, David Waldmann at Vermont Hardwoods. I don't know if his company can make a single frame of a custom moulding.

Hey Sue,

Try Metropolitan Picture Framing in Minneapolis 1-800-626-3139. They will custom build whatever size floater you need, length, chop, or they will join it before they finish it so you get that closed corner look. I believe they work with Maple, Walnut, Poplar, and Cherry. They do amazing work. Everything has its price though.

thanks - I'll contact both. Actually, I was looking for Metro - I thought they were out of Mn!
