I suppose it's the teacher (now happily retired!) in me that likes sharing things I've learned with others who are like minded. That's one of the things I enjoy about these message boards, not only sharing but asking questions and getting responses from others who are doing the same thing. Working in a vacuum like so many of us artistic types do, it's great to have forums and social media which allows us to share our work and get feedback. Sounds silly but I refer to those I've befriended through these platforms as "my imaginary friends", just like when we were kids! Some of these contacts have lead to phone calls, sharing photos, and becoming less than imaginary.

This is the third Tabernacle frame I've built, the second for the same client. The painting is 11" x 14" and on a copper panel. This client is great in that she gives me artistic license in the design of her frames. She asked about doing a roof on it and thanks to a few of you on the forum I was able to do that as well. Initially, only the flat panel surrounding the picture was going to be 12kt. oil gilded leaf. The remaining was to be black but just seemed to be too stark of a contrast so the entire piece was oil gilded. With all of the ins and outs this turned out to be about an 8 hour job, accomplished in two days. She had a short deadline and asked to have it ready for a convention she was in, the good news is that I managed to do it and she sold it the first day!! I've been promised better pictures of the competed piece but you know how that goes.

Here are three links to my blog posts about this frame if you're interested. The two images attached are of the full size drawing/plan I made and the completed frame. Enjoy -- John
