After not much luck trying to find a Canadian supplier for small Mylar envlopes; I turned to United manufactuers but did not find what I'm looking for. Does someone out there have a name of a supplier or acid free product that can be used in place of a clear acid free envelop? This particular framing project needs to be seen from the front & THE BACK-Yipes!!!!

Sandie suggested this place in the shrink wrap thread a few days ago, and they have a Canadian section in the website. I don't know if they're Mylar though - you'll have to ask.

How small is small? We just received 5x7 and 8x10 clear envelopes from United, and have 11x14 on the shelf. The type that you pull the strip off the adhesive and fold the flap over. I'm not sure they're mylar, but they're definitely clear. I always have trouble finding the part number in the catalog, so I make sure that I have a full box ot them with the label to use for reference. I can look tomorrow at the store for the number if you want.

Why not make an encapsulation mount? That is, two pieces of clear film (Mylar-D or equal) sandwiched over both sides of the item, held together by strips of 3M #889 double-sided tape all around the perimeter. Tape should be no closer than 1/8" from the item's edges, and no farther away than 1/4".

Cover the tape lines with matson both sides, which show all edges of the item in their openings.

Our sponsor, United Mfrs Supplies, stocks the clear film and tape you need to do the job. Or, if you don't want to buy a roll of it (you would find all kinds of uses for it), you could probably borrow/beg what you need from a nearby framer.

I just located the www.clearbags.com supplier that you mentioned; HERE in my small town of 11,000 people. I didn't even know they existed and they are up the street from my studio. Moral of this lesson is get off thegrumble.com & leave the studio.
