Over the past 11 years I've owned three Dell desktops and three Dell laptops. The first desktop I got still runs my Gunnar Rapido, but is about to be pensioned off. The other two both died at around 8-9 years of age. One Laptop died about the same age and another was fried by lightning.
The third laptop was the only Dell that I have had any problems with. In the past 8 months it has had four optical drives in it, but still the problem exists. It was not a drawer type, but one that the disc was inserted in a slot and many times it would not eject a burned disc. The service is always excellent. I report the problem and the next day a technician installs a new drive at my premises. There is no other computer company in Australia that provides such prompt service.
It was 2 1/2 years old with (3 years warranty) and Dell has replaced the XPS1645 model with a new XPS17 that has many specs higher than the old one. It has two 750 gig hard drives, a 3 gig video card with 3D, 8gigs ram, second gen i7 processor with turbo boost (whatever that is) and a drawer type optical drive....hallelujah!
I cannot fault Dell service! Thank you, Dell!
