Got an email this morning - both the subject and body said:

Please ignore if you receive this unexpected email!

It was from someone I've never heard of,
To someone (one email address) I've never heard of,
And, both in Outlook 2013 and on my iPhone I could see the BCC*, and that was (just) me.

There are no attachments or links in the message.

*maybe that's normal behavior - if YOU are the recipient of a BCC you can see it?

You should be able to see a CC (Carbon Copy), but not a BCC by its very nature. (BLIND Carbon Copy)

Mike

I've never had that happen, but occasionally I will receive an email intended for someone else who also uses my local ISP.
Makes me wonder who might be getting some intended for me.
Anyone know how this happens?

Dunno what to say...

Looks like maybe the sender was testing a reconfigured email software and was sending out a test message.
How your address got on the list is a mystery, but as I said email delivery is not a perfect system. And then there are spambots.

Just got a second one.

FROM a different person.
TO the same person.
BCC'd to me, but a different address.

Very, VERY strange if you ask me, that a BCC will show up. And it is on both a Windows/Outlook system as well as iPhone/default Mail app...

I think email is just going screwy these days. Two days ago my elderly neighbor's even older brother sent me one of his usual forwards. Only I received it 41 times. I tried to write back to him but his ISP did not recognize his address (either his new one that he's had for several years, or his old aol one, but the new ISP kept sending my emails to his aol address).

I think there must be something in the air.

I dunno.
