My store is ready to do battle. In a few moments the doors will be unlocked. I've dug my trench and draw my line on a piece of matboard. Nothing can really prepair you for the carnage of dealing with customers choosing custom framing.

The real question is, will anyone come in?

framer

You bet: your fame will spread far and wide. Soon you'll be so busy you'll think about abandoning us. Then where will we be??

Good Luck. Break a leg and all that.

You are reeeeeeaadddddddy!!

I 'd wish you luck but with your skill and experience, luck has nothing to do with it.I am also looking forward to the PICS.
You do have my best wishes .I'm glad you are finally working for yourself.

First I did ran no ads yet. So I'm not expecting much until next week when I do my offical opening. I took pictures this morning and had then done at a 1 hour photo finisher. So here they are.

This shows the drawers built into the wall. They are 60 x 47 x 5, you can also see the ceiling.

Layout table has a storage area under it for large art books and mat samples. Table size is 4 x 8 feet

Most of the wall, on the far left where the small corners are is the hidden door to the workshop.

The computer station will be for customer use. I'm getting a second one for under the counter in the center for workorders and invoicing. That printer is a temp. a smaller one will be going under the counter.

The white wall will be used for framing samples and a couple of artists.

That the start.

Great look, ceiling is fantastic!!!
Best wishes for the future of your business. I really like the idea of hiding the workshop door, I wish I could do that.

AWESOME!

Small, clean, efficient, to the point!

That ceiling is much better even than you described.

Wow, I like the drawers in the wall.....do they open from the other side also? Awesome ceiling!!!

I even recognized the chopper.

As we all wait with anticipation!

How did that first day go?

Did they come? Did you use all your grumble skills?

We want to hear every detail!!!

Just a quick update. My offical grand opening is this Friday - Saturday, with a party for friends, clients and family on Sunday afternoon. I'll then be better at seeing what my marketing is doing.

I'm going to give away over 1000 posters that JohnG gave to me.

I didn't realizes there was that many had been sitting on a shelf for at least 8 years, and selling posters is not my thing altough I should look into a few sidelines besides framing

Well, had about 50 people come through the shop in the last couple of days. Of the ones that brought in something to frame about 15, I sold 12 and have to call the other three when things I need for there pictures arrive next week. I would have to say it's off to a good start. I'm having a party tomorrow for friend family and clients. I hope to then get a routine going. Very tired and need a vacation.

Framer, what are you doing for publicity? Fifty people in two days is pretty good. Far more than I've had this past week....aaaah, for the good old days.

I ran 3 ads Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 8 col inches each in the local paper. The special was 30% FRI & SAT only for grand opening. Then the free poster giveaway. The free posters brought in the other 35 that came in for just their free posters and to see the new shop. That all I did. I'm having a party today and have invited over 100 friends, family, and clients to climax the opening.

Plus 1/2 the people that brought in things to frame checked out the Web site also.

Great, wonderful design, Framer! I have a shop in a graphic design company, and I have my display/work area in a space that's only 16'X 20' wish I had your space. Good fortune to you and your enterprise.
