just got thru looking thru 'baxtersframeworks.com' (really GOOOOd stuff!) at the sports related SB's and jarred my memory bout asking all you folks about how YOU go about attaching a golfball to a golf-T??????? I've used epoxy glues, liquid nails, GOOP, superglue, sillicon, w&w/o sanding the areas(don't want to do this to a 'collector' golfball but I tried it on one just for grins) but ball/T just don't want to stay together over the long(er) haul...the ball eventually falls off the T(sometime the glue is on the ball, sometimes on the T).... how do you get it done?

I don't rely on adhesion with the tee. Instead I cut a small opening behind the ball. If the ball is purely decorative I'll silicone it into the recess then position the tee under the ball. If the ball is collectible I will use a Stabiltex wrap over the ball and thru the hole, again positioning the tee after the fact. Here's an example:

never though about it in that way Andrew---gonna try it this week! thanks. what you use to cut the hole?? I know---practice practice practice---and a very sharp xacto, right?

We learned the golf-ball-and-stabilitex (or toille, fine mesh "bridal veil" netting, available at any fabric store)-through-the-hole trick in Jim's shadowbox class. Hot glue the stabilitex to the backside of the backing to hold it in place. Absolutely invisible and easy to do. No reason to ever silicone one again, collectible or otherwise.

I usually cut holes like this on the CMC ... makes life easy ... just layout where you want the object(s) to sit ... pick the right sized hole for it to nestle in ... often also use the CMC to cut a similar hole at same position in 1/8 AF to sit behind the mat and create a deep enough depression.

But an XActo would work too. That's what I usually use for the slits to take Melinex strap mounts.

Bill, I'm sure you can cut a nice circle using an X-Acto knife. That's how I did it before the CMC. 1-1/8" diameter works well for a tulle mounted golf ball.

Instead of Stabiltex, which is very supple, I like to mount golf balls with white tulle. The mesh is not as fine, but the dimples in the ball hide the fabric covering very effectively.

Just use hotmelt glue or acrylic medium, heat activated by tacking iron, to attach the tulle to the back of the mount board. But first, pull the tulle tight around the ball from behind the board, smoothing out any pleats or wrinkles as you go. It's easy after a couple of tries.

No glue touches the ball, so you don't have to be concerned about it coming loose. You will be able to turn the mounted golf ball in the tulle mount, so don't worry about getting the logo straight during the mounting process.

Andrew, if you must glue... try pure PVA.... it hold very well, and it is total reversable on glass or a golf ball. If the ball is signed... a damp cloth will remove a tiny glue spot.

Mesh cloth works tule. :D

If the golf ball is a collector item or you simply don't want to stick it down we make a holder for the golf ball that will not damage the ball. This holder allows you to position the ball anywhere in the frame.

Cut a small circle in the mat (3/4") where the golf ball will be. Put the "T" in place them put the ball in the circle. No glue or nails needed. The ball in against the glass... the circle holds it in place. I did this before and it works. :icon21:
