Having the right tools really helps. Here's a job yesterday where the designer wanted the picture WAY up above a very steep stairwell.

Fortunately I have a righteous set of tools :). A "stairway" ladder conforms to the pitch of the stairs (lower legs on one side than the other) and the adjustable plank makes for sure footing. I LOVE my Little Giant ladder and accessories.





 
Looks like a werner plank. Very handy to have around.

for anyone that does installations, that kind of set up is a must. We contract that out to some local folks and they have used those numerous times in homes of our clients. It is impressive to the client, and instills an air of confidence that we all know what we are doing. Nice photos, Rob. thanks for sharing this with us.

Rob, (I know there was another recent thread about similar issues, but) out of curiosity, do your charges for installation in a residence increase when you have to employ extra equipment such as this, or would this be considered a "normal" installation for you?
 
We carry the smaller Little Giant and the plank (it is also made by Little Giant) with us in the truck and do not charge extra. Due to the time to load/unload the scaffold, we do charge an extra $100 if we need up to two sections of the scaffold (up to 12 feet) that we own. A third section is an additional $75 (for an additional 6 feet).

We also have ladders from 6 feet to 12' tall plus a rolling platform ladder.

Taller than that, then we prefer to use a scissor lift. (which we also bill additional for plus deliver and pickup from the rental company.)
