I'm tired of paying $7 for a small package of pins for framing needlepoints. Anyone know where I can buy some wholesale? I should elaborate and say the nearest place to buy them is 70 miles away and that is where I paid $6.95 for 500. Maybe that is good? Also, I don't intend to take them out and will push them into the acid-free foamcore. So, I want something that definitely won't rust or tarnish.

I asked a similar question once and got some good answers. We still haven't ordered the stainless steel pins but are thinking about it. Time flies. I can't believe that was way back in April.

Maybe this will help:

I would like to know if anyone knows if there are any other sources for bulk stainless steel straight pins. Ball point ss pins would be a plus.

We just recently requested a catalog from American and Eilford. Their minimum order is $50. I think they have to special order the ss pins. The customer service person didn't seem to know much about them.

Jean - your local fabric store should give you a better price than $7 per package - even if you have to pay retail.

I like to use 1/2" sequin pins for stretches; I get them at the craft store next door. They're 99 cents for a package of 100 or so (who counts them?)

Every few years I buy a five pound box of nickel-plated brass pins #17EB from Singer Cutters Exchange for $39.45.

Last time I called was about two years ago; their phone number in Murfreesboro, TN is 1-615-893-5096, but I think they have other locations.

Nickel-plated brass pins are much less costly than stainless steel and will not rust or corrode.

We often use pins to mount cross stitch, but never on needlepoint -- the fabric is too heavy. Instead we either lace it, or stretch it like a canvas.

I need to elaborate to say that the nearest place for me to buy pins is 70 miles away and that is where I paid $6.95 for 500. Maybe that is normal? Also, I don't intend to take them out. I will push them inside the acid-free foamcore so want pins that I'm sure won't rust or ruin the fabric. Some say nickle-plated do and some say they don't. Stainless steel is a sure thing so I need to find a supplier. Thanks.
