This client chose (insisted) on using a 1 1/2" rustic wood moulding (AMPF #9480) with the above crazy neon metal frame as a liner.

And, it looks great.....my question is, how do I stack these?

Could I use a bead of silly-cone under the rabbit of the wood frame?

Is that bad?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Nancy- use Nielsen Omni hangers on all 4 sides but install them "backwards" so that they stick out from the metal frame all around. Then use screws through the holes in the Ominis and into the back of the wood frame. If the metal only protrudes from the back of the wood frame by 1/2" or less, you could use painting retainer clips (which come 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2" deep), screwed into the wood.

The offset clips will be close. depth of the metal frame is just at 1" when stacked in the wooden one.
Plus, I wanted to avoid clips if I could because when it hangs on the wall, the metal frame will be very evident, and I thought it should look as sleek as it can.
So you don't think that permanently bonding the frames together is a good idea?

The cyber green liner frame sticks out the back of the wood frame by 1", yes? Is the green frame poking out of the back to be part of the 'design?'

If not, use offsets. Then cover the back as usual with a dust cover. I make a 45 degree slit in each corner of the paper to get it to lay flat-ish there.

If so, then maybe you could somehow attach that outer frame with velcro?

Yes, I guess it is part of the design. The client and I talked about how far it would come off the wall, so I wanted to use the color to advantage.

I've just been messing around using spring klips. I relaxed the tension by bending them and laying them in sideways. The tension seems to be holding the two frames together nicely, and they barely show.

But, I am really tempted to use a dab or two of silicone to be sure. Is the silicone a no-no?
