Hi Everyone.

I have a customer who wants a sports shirt framed ,not a problem I've framed lots, but he wants to view it from both sides and be able to hang it both ways as well. I have seen a shirt done this way many years ago at a trade fair, but cant remember how the shirt was fixed and also how the frames were connected back to back.

Would be grateful for any ideas (poss.photos ) on this.

Thanks Kalta

Hi Kalta

What about hanging it off a 'pipe' which is out of sight behind mountboards, much like a shirt hangs in a cupboard. The actual shirt can either hang naturally, or be shaped over a board etc.

I'm sure the pro's will have much better suggestions.

Good luck. When having to think out of the box, that is when magic happens.

Make a form to fit inside of your shirt out of 3/16 coroplast. Make the form longer than you need at the bottom and make sure the flutes run in a vertical direction. Wrap J-Lar etc on the edges of the coroplast so it does not cut the fabric. (in this case, I would not use foamcore as it can bend to easily.

Once you have the shirt in place and have dealt with how you want the sleeves, put the bottom of the form between 2 mats with spacers around the rest. I personally would have the bottom of the shirt covered by the mats so you wouldn't be able to see the form sticking out of the bottom of the shirt.

If you have a lot of space between the layers of glazing, you might also want to put a thin acrylic rod into the fluting at the neck and place this between the mats at the top. I would use a piece of clear spacer for this after removing the adhesive.

WEIRD! I just had to do somthing like this.......
Customer wanted to see both sides...... I just 2 mats about 2.5 inches....... and put a foamcore spacer between...... so the backs of the mats face each other with foam core between...... I made a shirt form out of foam core and adhered it between both mats...... front and back plexi......
Oh I also finished the back of the frame with acrylic paint and a decorative hanger on the TOP of the frame to hang it from.

I'm sure this is just clear as mud......... :D

My only concern about the FC, is that it can fold pretty easily since it is only supported on the bottom.

Its supported at the the top. Its pretty cool. I'll have to take a pic when I get a sec today.

Hi and thanks to all who replied, your ideas have certainly given me a base to work from.
I will let you know how I get on.
