I have regrettably decided that I need to fire one of my longest-standing suppliers due to constant (often unannounced) discontinuations, back orders, etc. I've used them for the 28 years I've been in business, and we used to use them at the shop I worked in when I was in college. They used to be a reliable supplier with a wide range of distinctive styles and good quality. Over the last couple of years they have discontinued a lot of the classics, and I haven't really liked any of their new offerings. They haven't had a rep for the midwest in a number of years. I suspect they may be having financial or other problems. Anyway, bottom line is they are no longer a reliable and useful supplier. I need some "fresh blood".
The downside is that dropping them leaves a variety of style "holes" in my board, so I'm looking for a supplier with a broad range. One I am seriously considering is Southern Moulding in Georgia. I looked at their whole catalog on line and I like what I see.
Just wondered what kind of reviews they would get from those of you who use them. Criteria I'm interested in are (no big surprise) styles, quality, service and reliability, and price/value.
Thanks for your help.

Rick, you scared me, I thought Southern was the one you were firing. Whew! I don't order directly form Southern but one of my suppliers carries some of their stuff. The ones I have are nicely priced, in fact, I pull them a lot to save a sale if price is a concern. I am not sure about their selection since I don't deal with them directly, but what I have used I have had no trouble with.

Just bringing this to the top again, hoping to get some feedback on Grumblers' experiences with Southern Moulding Co. I want to make a decision soon, and whatever company I go with will hopefully become one of my primary vendors.
Thanks.

I really like Southern - my orders go out super fast and their chops, metal and wood, are excellent! I've used them for 17 years. The only complaints I have are I don't see my rep often enough and I just had to remove a sample from the wall because it isn't expected in until eom December!!!

I can't believe no one else has an opinion of Southern! ;) Back to the top!

Rick,
I completely take Southern for granted. They are local, I've had really good customer service, good chops, etc. Really nice to work with.

Yada yada yada... I suspect you need info. that will be more specific help to your decision!!

Anyone want to chime in on stuff like, shipping, orders corrected quickly and efficiently (see, I just wait while they fix it, and the screwups are rare) etc., etc.??
