I am looking with no success for sources for wearable art (Fine Art, Van Gogh, Renoir ect.)

I bought a dress like this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/jpbarlowe/dress.jpg on eBay and have it on our store Manequin (which I put outside to attract attention, and she works )and have had several people wanting to buy it. It is made in Thailand and the label says P & N but can not find anything. Also interested in scarves / ties / handbags ect.

Anyone know of any wholesale source(s) for things such as these. They will fit in with our gift dept. Thanks guy and gals.

Ah shucks Paul, I don't think its my size.

1970s Dresses

If you happen to venture into the schmatza business.. :D , how about Hawaiian style print of Big Gold Picture Frames... on Scrubs? The ultimate shop shirt... Scrubs are tough, very washable and cheap.

We have artists that make wearable art. You might try to find them. Local artists are better than ones in Thailand. We did a show last year entitled Watch and Wear: An Adventure in Wearable Arts. It was a hit.

Here is a picture of our Manequinn

attracting attention for the store. Sometimes we position her at an Eazel with brush and pallet in hand! Just this week, I've had two new customers come in who specifically said they had never noticed the store before but "she" got there attention. (they were both men, who we know are less likely to come into a frame shop to begin with)

While I appreciate having local artists paint wearable art, I am looking for mass produced dresses / scarfs / ties / handbags ect. I only paid around $20.00 for the new dress off of eBay and so I know there must be a wholesale source for these items.

Hanna, those are what I am looking for, however that is a retail site. The dresses cost more there than on eBay. Need a wholesale source for those kind of items. Don't think that online retailer would want to share that information.

Thanks though! Someone will know. I have been internet searching but to no avail.

Hanna tried researching that label first but can't find anything. I did write to some of the eBayers and some say they wholesale (am checking prices but so far seems like they really are just a reseller, not a true wholesale source.) My web search has so far turned up a number of other interesting gift sources from around the world. My cusomers seem to like that "global village" thing for gifts. It makes your store more unique. When I sort thru them all if any are interested I will share links.

In the meantime I am still looking for wholesale sources for "wearable art"

I contacted Delivered Deals for wholesaling information and following is their response. Thinking about ordering some but I would hate to get stuck with a bunch. My employees would probably make me wear them if they didn't sell.

"Our wholesale pricing on the Art Print Dresses is $21. each with a minimum of 7 of each size and/or print. So, to place an order for the Starry Night Dress, you would have to order 7 Starry Night Small, 7 Starry Night Medium, 7 Starry Night Large, etc."

Doug thanks for checking with them. The eBayers have a "Buy it Now" price of only $22.99 for one. All can do better on multibles. That says that they are getting them somewhere for much less and most of them don't even have 21 total let alone 21 of one style in stock. It appears to be a well hidden source. One ebayer from the Big Island told me she could have any number printed for me if she didn't have stock. Just gotta find the source.

jPaul, try to find an Hawaiian shirt with Big Gold Frames all over it.. I need XXL. Pref in silk, but will do with Rayon or cotton. :D

I'll get right on that Baer and try to have some made. My favorite work shirts (now that I am a framer and no longer a cabinet maker) are Hawaiian. I bought a number of vintage orignals online.

If I knew how to get the fabric printed.. I'm not sure whether I would want Hawaiian or scrubs.

Scrubs are easier and faster to make so cheaper...

I buy regular scrub tops for $12... about the cost of a cheap made in china golf shirt at Target.

When i first read this title i didnt realize that what was being talked about was "CLASSIC" wearable art. The reason I say this is I have a nephew who has created some wearable art for the Mcilheny Corporation and some designs of his own ( not licensed by MCIlheny "Tobasco") In fact i have one of his Shirt design that depicts all the things N.O. is famous for ( Mardi Gras -Floats and Beads and doubloons, Oysters ,Pelicans the St. Louis cathedral ,The Dome etc.) and if any one is interested I might be able to get him to ship them to you.

To see his work and shirts go to www.shaunaleman.comor
