Anyone have a good source for engraved brass plates? I have been seeing some recently that are color engraved. I would appreciate a source if anyone knows of one. Thanks in advance and hello to everyone I met at the WCAF Show. A great, great show!

Quality House Engraving is the company that is endorsed by the fanchise. I don't use them though. The first time I contacted them the woman who answered the phone wouldn't give me her last name. What's up with that? I'm a customer, not a stalker. The second thing I didn't like is that they don't have a web site. Their samples look nice though. They can be reached at 608-328-8381

Many of us use Sign Design Custom Products, Inc. (WI) (800-274-9161) www.signdesign.org (That's with an .org on the end and not a .com in case anyone types it in...)

I have thought about ordering via mail. I have found a trophy company locally. He does them the same day and its not an expensive product to begin with. I wouldn't dare order them until you first check locally. It will make you feel better and how many threads have we read about "networking?"

Jay (as you know) "local" for me means a half a day trip to West Knoxville (25-30 miles) so my next step is to support those who belong to or support the PPFA.

I wasn't picking on you at all. Heck I wasn't picking on anybody but you mentioned it.

Dumplin Valley Raceway
544 East Dumplin Valley Road, Kodak, TN 37764
(865) 397-2990

Awards & Engraving
451 Court Avenue Suite 102, Sevierville, TN 37862

It says this is 8.3 miles from Kodak. I'm about 6 miles from the guy who does mine.

I am about 12 miles from the place I get mine, but she has personally done over a thousand in framing with us as well as sending customers our way!

Support your local businesses (if you can), after all, you are one!

Thanks Jay I appreciate your concern. That "raceway" is not a place that I as a female would want to go alone... and Sevierville - uh, I could go to West Knoxville quicker than I can Sevierville on most days.

Once, we had friends coming here from Richmond, KY, and then we were going on to Pigeon Forge (2 miles past Sevierville.) It took longer for us to get to Sevierville than it took them to get to Kodak from Richmond, KY.

But thanks anyway...

Yea it might be a bit far. Some phone book has it at 8 mile. Rand McNally has it at 18 miles from your door to theirs.

Having visited that area before, I would say that a good number of your customers drive much futher than that. But it's probably futher than you care to drive for a $4 plate. Might call. Might just turn into something.

I've had three different local engraving establishments go belly up on me in 4 years. I finally gave up and went to Sign Design a couple months ago because I just did not have the time to look for another local engraver. They did a beautiful job and I too found them from their PPFA connection. I'll probably search for another local engraver but I will continue to use Sign Design because they did a beautiful job and turn around time was actually faster than one of my last local guys.

Try the Mormon Church...? (a joke)

In the vein of the subject. I am looking for a good supplier of the plates that are black coated in 5x7 and 8x10 in size. Not for engraving but coating with palladium emulsion for tintype photography. If you know of a good supplier let me know. Those I have tried so far dont' want to sell them this way.
