If anyone is looking for a really good surround sound system (5 speakers plus powered subwoofer) for your PC, or even TV, look no further but hurry:

Newegg.com has the best system on the market, Logitech Z-5500. This one always got the best reviews and it sounds incredible..

I ordered mine 2 days ago, got it 1 day later, it rocks, my cat is very jumpy now and the neighbors are banging on the walls...! And the price? $215 plus $26 for shipping! They used to cost over $400.

Here's the link: Logitech speakers at NewEgg.com (Read the reviews there too!)

I brought my old system to the store, also Logitech Z-560, and this one is great too if you can find it, it is about $100 (4 speakers plus subwoofer).

Paul,

I am not a whiz at speaker systems. Can you hook up a set of speakers to either a PC or a TV using the same speakers?? I have wondered if you needed a junction box or something of the sort as I couldn't figure out how the speakers plugged into the TV. The connectors looked different on a TV than they do on my PC.

Usually you can use adapters (from Radio Shack) to connect components with different connectors.

But depending on how new / old the TV is, you may need to connect via a receiver to get the correct signal back and forth.

This particular system, Z-5500 can connect to a DVD player using coaxial cable and that should take care of the TV issue.

Paul,

So I can hook up speakers to my DVD player and the TV will play the audio up through the DVD player??

The reason I am asking all of this is I have a couple of sets of speakers and I would like to hook up a set to my TV which is about 4 years old. I have a set of outdoor speakers (waterproof type) that I don't have hooked up outdoors anymore and I tried to figure out a way to hook them up but I think they need to be routed through a receiver like the hookup I had when I installed them on an outside deck.

I also have a set of PC speakers with a big subwoofer that I don't have on the computer any more. I could use them except I can't figure out how to get them on the TV. The audio OUT on the TV only has one lead hole. (I think.) There are 2 lead holes but they are marked Audio OUT and Video OUT so I am assuming that I can only hook up one side of the speakers. (Man, I can't believe I know what I do about computers and am so ignorant about other electronics!)

I almost certain those speakers you mentioned have to go through a receiver (Audio-in) and from Audio-out into the TV.

But don't feel bad, those things can drive everybody crazy!

I have a not so old TV in the bedroom, maybe 4 years old, and I had to hook up a VCR to it so I can get the DVD signal to the TV! I couldn't get it to connect to the DVD otherwise.

These days you can get a whole set of surround sound speakers, plus receiver and DVD player from almost anywhere for about $250. And for $50 more you can even get wireless rear-speakers! I really think those deals are better than going through he11 trying to connect various pieces together.

Bringing this back from the grave, 'cause I've got a few questions.

Tiring really rapidly of standard fare music we're playing in the store and what's on car radio. Refuse to drive with the Ipod 'phones in my ears. So looking at satellite radio

two questions: Sirius or XM or makes no difference? And what's a great unit to plug into the car then plug into the store's stereo?

Been ot Amazon and checked out the Kenwood in Sirius and lotsa reviewers prefer Sirius over XM--just don't have a clue.

would love to hear others' opinions on this

Mike- If your car has a cassette player, you could use a cassette-type adapter to play your iPod in the car.
