I really need to vent before I blow a gasket. I recently framed 4 prints (with oriental hangers) which a very good repeat customer of mine bought on a trip to Thailand; he asked about using gallery rods to hang them, as his house, built in the 1920s, has picture moulding in all of the rooms. I called a company which we all know very well and was told they required a tracing of the moulding to make the rods. As I really like the customer, I personally went to his house with a contour gauge, made a tracing of the moulding and emailed a photo, with a ruler for scale, so the order could be placed.
What ensued over the next week where HOURS of confused phone calls, with different reps, as if they had never sold this product before. After a over a week of back-and-forth calls, I finally said that it shouldn't be this difficult, and that I was giving up and was going to order from someone else.
They called back and said they figured it out, so I ordered 4 rods with an additional hooks, and that weekend left for an overseas trip for two weeks, with apologies to my customer for the delay.
I returned today to find the box waiting for me, and opened it to find - only TWO rods, but with the extra hooks. My blood pressure soaring, I called and ordered two more - and not only am being charged for the shipping, but I now have two additional hooks (each rod comes with one hook) which they refuse to take back.
Does anyone have a good COMPETENT source for gallery rods? I will NEVER AGAIN order these from them.
