I was wondering how many of you out there are now using this product? The SOLO GLUE RITER (a Gluefast product) which purports to be a "multi-talented" precision adhesive applicator. I was reading a trade magazine last month and saw Gluefast's advertisement. I started thinking about how much commercial/volume frame business we do and the tons of ATG we go through. So I thought I might as well contact Gluefast and see what they had to say, a Mr. Lester Mallet was very thorough with his explanation of their products and how they might fit with my business. I'm leaning very favorably toward using their products and was wondering what others thought?

Thanks,

the tons of ATG we go through

I have one and think it's over-rated. I tried using it as a replacement for ATG on double mats, but found that it needed pressure until the glue "grabbed". This just took too much time so I have gone back to ATG and only use the glue in addition to ATG where a more aggressive, permanent bond is needed.

It's been a waste of money in my opinion. The same result can ge produced with a PVA dispenser bottle and a scrap of mat used as a spreader.

Because the original glue is not available down here, I am now just using PVA in the Glue Riter, but don't use it very often.

Thank you both so much for your information. I'll certainly take all this information under advisement.

Hi Tom,

We've mostly ever saw that product in craft departments, such as scrapbooking. Not sure if you are doing that high of a volume that the glue would dry fast enough. I know ATG is expensive, but it sure is a convenient product.

Ormond, If you use the method of cutting double mats where the inner matboard is a little bit smaller than the top board (to use only the top board's edge as a reference on the mat guide), I recommend ALWAYS using both ATG and some dots of glue to attach the mats. If you don't eventually the ATG, which never really sets up, will allow gravity to cause "mat creep", resulting in the undermat's reveal being bigger at the top and smaller at the bottom.

Being in the Southern Hemisphere, I wonder if your bottom mats creep upward? :icon9:

Rick,
I use a CMC so I cut all mats the same size, but I do sometimes use PVA as well as ATG.

Nope, bottom mats seems to stay in place down here! Alphamats are made in USA so I think they are very grateful that they have been sent down here to a better place where they behave properly! ;o)) ;o))

Maybe some clever inventor could combine both products into one specialized mat adhesion product called PVATG. (How about it, Greg?)
;) Rick

BTW, what is that koala in your avatar fixin' to do?

Baer,
Please see previous response, a few posts above, to "creeping"!
