Sold my store

I feel like I gave the store away to a customer last week.

Big News...

That's all, just wanted to get that off my chest.

Congratulations!

Could this be a shared story, perhaps move this to the Business section? Were you planning this sale? Did it just happen or was this a bail out?

Did you have the numbers laid out in advance? Work with a commercial broker? This could be educational if you wish to share.

All the best in the your future plans...

John

Need more info....just curious

Congratulations!

And in this age, luck had nothing to do with it.

I know that has to be a huge relief.

GREAT...NOW you can come and buy mine so we can retire.

I would completely understand if you want to just put your feet up and enjoy the rest, but I think it would be really informative if you would share this story.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Having recently sold my sign business I know what an exciting and wonderful time this is for you. I'm sure you are a tiny bit sad, too.

Just like everyone else, I'd love to hear the story!

Thank you for letting us know, Dave. I wish you the
best in whatever lies ahead.

....Sounds like both a joy and guilt confession. Which is it?

I think he took the money and ran. Maybe the new buyer is grumbler and can give some info, if you are welcome to the G!

Here goes

I will try to answer questions with out giving any info the new owners wouldn't want me to. Word on the street is that they have signed up at my recommendation. this place rocks. His name is Dan-o, welcome him when he shows up. I didn't list my business for sale, I just had three people within a week offer to buy, so I sold. It all started when a former employee was offered some left over equipment from a second store we closed and he responded with "I don't want the equipment, i want the store", unexpected. I shared this with another former employee that just moved back to the area, while she was at the store placing an order and she said "you'd consider selling the store?!" ...NDA with both talked and negotiated and ended up selling for less than I wanted but still enough to eliminate the burden of debt I have been living under do to the failed second store.

Very unconventional situation, no broker, little pre plan other than running a store that had records available at my finger tips due to lifesaver, and being on the up and up. It took as long as it did (5 months start to finish) because I did have to come up with P&L and whatnot. Talked to others I know who have sold businesses, including locals and Marc Bluestone whose 'how to sell your business' class i had taken several years ago in vegas. he's a nice man. the folks who ended up buying both had worked for me in the past, brother and sister. he worked for me for 6+ years and will be managing day to day operations, and doing some incredible design work, check him out on facebook. The place looks great, they are adding new life to the place I started from nothing 13 years ago. All in all a great situation.

Being the churchy guy that i am, i will have to change the luck referred to by some of you to ridiculously huge blessings from on high. Tithe, even when its hard, He will open the windows of heaven and bless you so much you will not have room to receive it.

What a nice outcome! Good luck to you in whatever direction you choose to take in the future, but hope you can relax for awhile first and enjoy being out from under the pressures.
