We just underwent another upgrade. New things are being turn on as I test them out.

1. New user directory search, see top right next to My Profile link.

2. Editing of your messages is now limited to 30 minutes. After that time you will not be allowed to edit or delete that message.

3. On the botton of each post there is a report post ICON. This emails a message to the moderator of that forum, there is a problem with that post. USE IT ONLY IF REALLY NEEDED!!!

4. New Topic Island, displays 5 newest topic added in all forums.

5. Jump to new post icon on the top left of a message thread.

6. more? ...

The user directory is interesting and answers some recent questions about early Grumble members.

The 30-minute limit on editing a post makes sense. That should give users plenty of time to correct typos - if they are concerned about that. New thoughts after 30 minutes should be a new post, not an addition to an existing one. I'm guessing moderators can still edit or delete a post after 30 minutes, but will be pretty reluctant to do do.

The "report post" function works as tested. I received framer's report on this thread in my email.

Looks like you've done it again, framer.

Cool, now when I or you, and you know who you are, say something stupid, it will stick around to huant us, just like in real life. :D

I like the improvements with the exception that "Today's Topics" are too small to read. I have to stretch very close to the screen when I am exhausted after work.

Otherwise, things look good.

The member search works. Searched for myself and what do you know. Great, it's been awile since you've made us sit up and take note. Well done. Thanks

The 30 minute thing caught me off gaurd. I type so slow ,even though I still make numerious mistakes. This causes a problem most of you won't encounter. It takes me so long to type a reply (Especially if I have a lot to say) That I am often rushing to shut down(Normally at my family's request.) I often just type what is on my mind and make corrections at another time when I read my own drivil.Well I just read the next to last Boomarange thing I posted and tried to correct the hundreds of typos only to be told the Time had elasped .But what the heck you all know I can't spell nor type. What is important is can you REALLY understand what I'm trying to say? Even I'd have trouble. Can't we make it Juuust a little longer ,like a couple of hours . Please?

Buddy, I think you're worrying about nothing. Your posts are perfectly understandable. But if you're really concerned, do what at least a few other Grumblers do. Write your post in a word processing program - most of them have a spell check. Edit all you want for as long as you want. You can do this off-line. When you're satisfied, highlight the entire document and copy it to the clipboard (ctrl-c.) Then paste it (ctrl-v) into the message box of your Grumble reply.

Personally, I don't think you should go through all that. Just do what you've been doing.

Boy, I like that new "jump-to" to new messages icon on the top. That really helps when I'm using my son's computer and the mouse only works when it wants to  .

This will work great for reeeeeally long threads.

Thanks.

'Garbage Collection' Forum?????????

Thanks for the new upgrades, framer! I love it, with the one exception that Purp mentioned. I have reached that age where I had to either grow longer arms or get bifocals. I got the bifocals, but, sometimes, they aren't quite enough. I would like it if the "Today's Topics" page used a little larger font. I could put down the magnifier, and sit closer to the screen. :D

I figure that it is for Australians... </font>[/QUOTE]Yeah, Lance we do have a lot of Kiwi's over here we need to get rid of!!!! ;) ;)

This morning read the John Coltrane topic. Then after another Grumbler posted to it, I went back and couldn't get in. I got a blank gray page with with a single character on it, a "c" or something. The same thing happened when I tried to open the Subliminal topic.

Does anyone know why that happened?

For PurplePerson and fttom,

If you are using Windows 98, try clicking on "View", "Text Size", and change your text size to "larger" or "largest".

That should solve the small text problem.

To the topics I mentioned in my earlier post, add Purp's topic Mom's Gonna eat you fingers!

Am I the only one having this problem? Is it a Mac compatibility thing?
