I recently upgraded my Mat Designer software to version 5.7.3 so it would be compatible with the CD that came with Brian Wolf's latest book.
Today I got some odd dialog boxes when trying to access a previously saved file. I found out from tech help that the newer version has a problem with the "Reserved Area" mat opening template that is used to indicate spaces in the design where objects will be that require no cut openings. The software cannot access saved files containing this template. It will become confused and crash or freeze up. The workaround is to either NOT save the file, or, change those areas to standard openings before saving, and then if you need to use the file in the future, open it and delete those openings before cutting.

(I had to quit MD and access the file icon directly in Windows in order to even delete it. Just trying to select it or even type its name in "Load Saved Mat" from within MD would cause a crash.)
