I would like to put a counter (visitors) on my web page which would include stats.

I'm using Frontpage 2000 and my web server supports the Frontpage extentions and Site Usage.

Anyone using Frontpage for their web development/maintenance? If yes, how did you setup Frontpage to display the "Site Usage" in the reports?

2nd, do you use a 3rd party program(or) to keep counts?

Thanking you all in advance.

I used to use a cgi counter program, but for the past 6 years I've been using the free stats program from www.extreme-dm.com It shows just about every stat you could desire.

If you'd like to look at my stats, as an example, CLICK HERE

Another option is to check with your ISP. Most of them offer some kind of free stats package that displays the results graphically.

If you check with your domain host, chances are they will have a button on your “control panel” which will allow you to link a counter.

You can also (sort of) figure out what is happening on the Control Panel’s “site statistics”.

If I understand it correctly (and there are no bets), you can sift through the # of hits, sessions, and page views to get an idea.

If I get it right and you have a table and two graphics on a page, that is counted as 4 hits.

If you have 10 pages and one person access nine of them and another gets bored after two, you will be presented with 11 page views.

And, I think, the number of “sessions” has to do with the number of unique domains which access your site. So, if 100 people from AOL get on your site and one from Earthlink, you only get credit for two sessions.

I find it very confusing!
