I have a large order of matting prints only, I thought it would be a nice touch to shrink wrap each one. Does anybody use a shrink wrap, and or have reviews and where to buy a good one.

Just being honest....unless you're getting paid extra for it, don't bother. A roll of shrinkwrap costs about $100 and if you get a hand machine and heat gun...they're around 400-500 new. Plenty of used ones on the market.

It may even bug them to have to unwrap them all. It probably will.

I shrink wrap stuff all the time!!! But I get paid for it!!!!
Check into seeing if you can find a used one!!

DonMar Days is coming up. Clearmount will be there. Call your Donmar rep and see if you can't get a Deal on a shrinkwrapper.

I have one, I use it, but not a big fan of it. It's cheaper to buy the clear bags.

I have a Clearmont shrink wrapper and it's great! Call Winnie at Clearmont for a price quote. The customer service at Clermont is superb! 800-541-5472

I buy the econo shrink wrap for about 75.00 a roll. There's also a higher grade material, but I can't really tell the difference other than it's somewhat thicker.

I shrink wrap all my customers work so I don't have to open a package when they come to pick up their order.

I've done a lot of mats for the local art society in shrink wrap and they love it because people can handle the art without leaving finger prints!

Winnie is gonna be at the DonMar days thing. She has also been in the Grumble in the past and set me straight with my shrinkwrapper :) I was using it wrong, and she got me back on track in less than 5 minutes.

I use the thicker shrinkwrap, probably because it didn't tear as much when I was using it wrong :)A roll is expensive, but it lasts a really long time. (Oh and the clear bags can be cut to custom sizes with the shrinkwrap wand :)

Our forum sponsor United has a sale on them right now. 42" unit with gun and 36" x 250' roll of film for $349. I have used or owned several United units over the years and was always thrilled with the equipment for the price. Page 4 of this flyer.

No one has touched on this, so...why would you be giving them more than the agreed upon service and make your margins diminish? You are establishing a precedent and you will not be able to back out of the service for future orders.
Shrink wrapping is time consuming and fraught with failure. The "clear bag" suggestion is better, but if it is not included, why would you bother? You gave a bid for a specific product/service, right? You won the bid. Why are you thinking about going above and beyond?

I have said this before and I will say it again - I HATE SHRINK WRAP!!!

Hateithateihateit.

Clear bags are REUSEABLE!!!!!!! RESEALABLE! NO mistakes! No waste!

No customers coming back in three years later wanting a new FREE shrink wrap because theirs ripped.

Once you start using clear bags you can start selling them regularly w/boards.

I love shrinkwrap - it is tight, easier when you have multiple prints in a bin because there are no floppy edges, and the better visibility of the prints because the front is taught.

That being said, the self-sealing bags are cheaper and faster.

I shrink everything.......never bought the bags cuz i NEVER NEEDED TO!
SHRINKWRAP HATERS!:p

I even shrink wrap mounted jersey's.....Especially with all the auctions I do!!! AWESOME....I dnthave to frame it and they ususally bring it back in to have me do the framing for them....;)

Yeah, I admit it - I am a SHRINKWRAP HATER!!! LOL.

Having that taut surface on shrinkwrap is what makes the holes and the tears.

Jerseys - serious? Tacked to backingboards? :)
