We do a good amount of shrink wrapping. But I seem to have an issue with finding a good quality film. The current roll, like the last one, has developed what I can only describe as a milky haze when completed. It looks this way as it comes off the roll so it is not from the heating. It is tight as it should be but it has an appearance that looks like stretch marks from human skin after weight loss. Does not have that crystal clear look. The rolls do not start out that way but within a few feet I run into this problem. I have always used the graphic grade from Clearmount but am getting a bit frustrated with these results. And yes, I have had this discussion with them.

Any one have a recommended alternative?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

I have the same problem. I'm interested in replies! It's so frustrating!!!!

Hmmm, we must be the only ones having this problem!

Even Saran Wrap looks better than what I have.

Not having the problem, but can you switch to crystal bags? You'll be avoiding the smell, the labour, the mistakes, and the pressure on the artwork. We switched, and, while it costs more, those other benefits are pretty serious. Why not send the roll back for a refund at least?

I have always bought from Emerald Film Systems out of Oklahoma City. 405-235-3704

Plastic Bags and Ready-Made Display

We don't have a shrink wrap machine but I have been interested in getting one for a long time. What holds us back is the potential for fumes. Berkeley has just outlawed plastic bags in retail situations, so I don't know where that leaves us with regard to shrink wrapping ready made frames. We have switched to paper cash wrap bags for small items, and wrap outgoing frames in recycled Kraft. We are green certified by the county, so we have to be careful. Suggestions for displaying store-made ready mades? Right now we staple scrap foamcore to the back at the top and bottom so they don't hit each other in the bins. It works, but takes up more space on the ready-made shelves.

Well, as I expected, I got a call from Winnie at Clearmount. That gal is always on top of things! She explained the probable problem and is going to make it right.

And Kirstie, the only thing we use a shrink wrap machine for is matted works and our own packs of greeting cards. Not for ready mades. And the fumes are really not that big of a deal. IMHO.
