I took this photo yesterday while it was very dull and gently raining. Usually the white apartments across the street reflect badly in my windows. Then I wondered if all you grumblers that have a shop would like to show the rest of us. I know they can be seen on your website links but it would be good to see them all here. Even a spy into your workspaces would be nice.

Her's mine in small town New Zealand

Nice shot. How are the columns done?

Here's mine:

You’ve got an attractive and well conceived storefront, Jos!

I’ve resisted placing an image of our facade because our building has all the charm of a condemned industrial incinerator.

We aspire to be as nice as Vic's. ;)

Edie - gorgeous vines! My shop is becoming covered with English Ivy that I have been encouraging to grow for ten years or more. Landlord informed me last week it was drawing carpenter ants who are eating the building so he is going to rip everything down.

It's always Winter here.

Bring your skis.

I have no idea why that image below is there.

In a couple of months I will be moving to the right of the door where we will have two store fronts!

With minivans reflecting in our mirror display =)

I like the frame shop/liquor store idea, have you ever considered adding massage?

Love seeing all the different styles of shops, but for me Edie's shop would be the one I'd travel a long way to have a nose around inside, it looks wonderful! :)

Since I am buried in an old warehouse building, I feature cheap rent, not a sexy exterior, but here goes.

Jos,

Great idea. I'm glad that a few have posted.... not sure why more folks don't? When on vacation or traveling anywhere in the world, it is always enlightening to visit other retailers / frames / galleries / gift shops! So much to learn.

BTW - Love your images - very contemporary and clean. To some I would think this might be intimidating? Thanks for sharing.

Here's our shop - in October, it will be four years since we moved into the new location...

Most of these photos were taken in the past 4 months in our shop...

The display above like most in our shop is a mix of home decor, gifts, framing, photo frames all mixed together and constantly changing.

This is a display of art mugs by Edinburgh artist Anna Wright - discovered her at the Spring Fair in the UK this past February.

This Patriotic Display covers Memorial Day, Flag Day and up to the 4th!

I hope more folks share....

Jos,

With all the gifts, home decor and collectibles in our shop - many will wonder if we still do framing? Absolutely...

Our photo frame island designed and built in the 1980's still serving us well.

I won’t show current premises as it would be academic…

However all going well, later this year we will move to this business unit.

Here's the front of the shop.

I really did have some wonderful flowers in my planters until our huge tornado storm
came thru yesterday.........:(

Bookmarking thread, stealing alllll the ideas. We might be moving into a smaller space next door to our gargantuan current building. I am actually excited to downsize...we have moulding from the '70s in the back and all kinds of accumulated rubbish that I'll finally have to get rid of. Edie, can I come and steal your tin ceiling? Do you think that would go well with our 1950s building (ha)? My dream shop would look like Edie's. Actually, my dream shop would be any of the ones pictured... ours is a bit sad right now. It's hard to be motivated to make any big changes when our location is so uncertain.

Oh crud... inside pics!!!

About a year ago.. I cut down my actual design space... threw up a wall and tore out carpet and put down wood flooring. So the space is about 18x16.

MESSY frame counter.. .just had 3 people all at one time! :icon9:

Eventual space for samples up above the corner samples....

Display/art wall..... BIG HUGE EMPTY SPACE since I sold a painting.... :)

My fun orange door..... ;) And some bad ### RM frames.

Old interior photo... back when I still had 164 sq feet of floor space.

I think I'm down to about 43 sq ft as of this last week. Monday the workers get here...
and it will reduce even more.... drastically.

But the only space that counts is the bench and the space between my ears.

Julie, are those Ikea "Alex" drawer units you have built in under your worktable? That's what I used, and it was the best upgrade I've ever done to my workstation. They hold lots of stuff right at hand and make it easy to keep things organized.
 Rick

Wow, I'm amazed how many samples some of you have, and how they are arranged/or not. I recon I could get by on about 20% of the ones that I have. I have a simple outlook on framing though, after all it's about the thing, not the frame. i have mine sorted by colour mostly and smaller to larger. Makes looking for a certain colour/feel much easier.

This is an almost 180 degree panorama taken from just inside my door this afternoon, it's all warped and wide but gives a feel for the space. All the photos are mine.
