Although this doesn't qualify as home-made framing equipment, I thought I might post this here for those that are tired of sending out your Morso blades for sharpening.

I purchased a Grizzly 24 inch knife grinder that I've been using for the past 3 weeks to sharpen my blades. As a bonus it sharpens planer knives, chisels and drill bits. It's quite a machine for $445.00. This grinder is water cooled and leaves a razor sharp edge.

Warning.....you can really mess up a set of knives if you are not careful. Before I started using a dial indicator to keep track of my settings, I inadvertantly took a nice 15 thousandths chunk out of one knife.

Now that I've got the hang of it, there is nothing like sweetening up the old Morso blades on a weekly basis. If you'd like to see a picture of it go to www.grizzly.com and search for the G9960 Knife Grinder.
