I am working on a brochure and eventually re-doing my website. I have some pictures of chevrons and finished frames, but I am not thrilled with any of them.

Do you have any you would like to share? Or, know of a source?

In particular I would love "faded" shots of one or more row of moulding samples I can use for a "banner" background. Or, background on a tri-fold brochure.

I don't have Photoshop or other editing program, which makes it even harder for me to get the shot I want. :(

Thanks

I have been on a graphics hunt for several weeks now that I have been trying to build a website.

I have Photoshop 6 and 7 but find it difficult to use. I am using GIMP now. It is freeware designed for Linux and open source code environments. The Windows version is very stable and powerful.

There are several sites that have free jpegs by the millions. If you dig through the sites you will find just a hand full of pics that pertain to our industry.

If anyone finds a good source, please let us know.

If you have a graphic you want faded Cliff, e-mail it to me and I'll give it a try. Maybe we can figure it out.

Cliff,

I have Photoshop and would be happy to try to give you the faded/ghosted look for your project.

I probably don’t have any chevrons that you don’t have, but if you could take images of the ones you want and the background over which they are to be overlaid, I can probably do it for you.

The only thing I ask is that you shoot the corners (or full frames) that you want on a solid, neutral background. It is much easier to extract them from a solid background. Also, please take the shots of the corners/frames at the highest resolution and as close as you can. We can always reduce the size of an image. We would need at least 300 ppi for your brochure. We can reduce the resolution to 72 ppi for the web pages.

When you shoot the frames/corners, be careful of reflections or glare from your light source.

Once you get the number of them you want, we can play with the size, placement and the opacity of the overlays.

On our web site on the “Picture Framing” page, is that the kind of background you have in mind?

Bill, the effect on your website is kinda what I had in mind.

I will try to take some pictures and see what we can do. I saw some framer's website a long (yrs?) time ago and it stuck in my mind. I haven't been able to find it again.

I'll see about getting a copy of that GIMP software. I used to (a LONG time ago) use Photoshop exstensively when I worked for Kodak, but haven't in quite a while.

too much to do! and a Gimp I am. mMaybe that software will be just the ticket!
