I have an elaborate shadowbox that is being taken on an airline cross country for presentation to someone.

It is not a particularly heavy piece with objects being only printed pieces that are matted and some cd's that are mounted - all in a N100 frame with quality plexi.

Any precautions you would advise for this journey!??! I plan on constructing a corrugated "case" for the customer to carry it in.

And, if anything should happen - do I start looking now for a frame shop in San Francisco that can help if anything needs help!?!

Thanks,

Roz

Have yu checked with the airlines to see if it meets their size requirements for baggage or carryon? If it is baggage only, I would suggest similar packaging for regular freight companies.

Jerome hits it on the button, Roz. If it has to go baggage, IT WILL GET TOSSED. Compression packing is your safest way to go. Or take it to the UPS store and ship. But if it's within the 22x19 limits of carry-on, make sure they (TSA) can see what it is. Bubble wrap envelope.

Thanks y'all.

It's gone now and on its way to a shipping dept!! I checked on the airlines limits and this was 53" and the allowances are normally 45" (one maxed at 50").

I had the conversation with the customer before I embarked on the project and told her of my find... and she decided it a better way to go.

Now - is there someone in the SF area that can help put this item back together if the shipper really destroys it!?!!

Thanks, as always.

Roz
