At the Las Vegas Show I purchased a "Sewing Awl" from the makers of Attach e-z. They said thread the needle and stick it in and out of the mat board and and it sews. Well - I can't get it to sew. It puts the thread thru the board but the thread does not stay there! Does anyone else use this tool? Seems to me that I paid around $50 for it. No directions came with it - I've called the company and left messages and noone returns my call. I sure would like to use it on these 25 golf flags that I need to sew!

Thanks,
Jacqueline Sullivan

Jaci, it you bought it from Pat you're in luck. She's very helpful (when it's not a 3 day weekend).
She may even be along here tonight or Tuesday morning.

I think you punch it through and as you pull it back, you thread the back thread through the loop it makes then pull it all tight. and repeat.

You have to secure the thread somehow on the backside of the board.

BTW: If you bought it from anyone OTHER than Pat, you're on your own.

Jaci, Sorry you are having trouble. If you look in the bag which the awl was shipped in you will find a paper which gives you the instructions on how to make stitches using the awl. It might be easier if you call me though. I can usually walk people through just about anything once we get to the bottom of the problem is.

My toll free number is 1-800-527-1521. Please feel free to call me any time between 8 am and 5:30 pm CST Mon-Fri. I am sometimes available on Sat. mornings as well, but never on Sunday. If I don't answer, leave a message and I will return your call within 24 hrs.

Baer, I thought I should come back to mention that I do stand behind all the products which I sell either by direct sales, or through the reputable distributors who are still carrying the Attach-EZ products. Anyone who has purchased a kit through a reputable dealer will get the same technical service and warranties as those who have purchased direct, no matter how long ago it was purchased.

Note: For anyone who is looking into purchasing any of the Attach-EZ products in the future...please, buyer beware! There are some very inferior products on the market which are being are being passed off as Attach-EZ. Also some of these companies are using a bate and switch method of selling their knock off products. What they are doing is using the Attach-EZ name to bring the customers in and then they will sell them something that is not Attach-EZ.

These products do not have any of the warranties, technical service, instructions on object mounting, quality fasteners, EZ-Stretch, or extra needles included in the kits, and if you will compare products apples to apples you will find that these knock offs are much more expensive for what you are getting.

You will also not be getting the instructions to help you learn to mount objects such as jersey's and doilies in these knock off kits. What is being called an Owners Manual is nothing more than the tool instructions for inserting needles and fasteners into the tools...which is something all the tools come with anyway. You will not get the information which you need to apply the tools to object mounting.

I receive calls everyday from disgruntaled framers who thought they were buying the real thing and found out otherwise. This goes back to the old saying that you get what you pay for.

If you have any question about who to buy Attach-EZ products from you can e-mail me and I will send you a list of the reputable dealers in your area.

So, I am in luck cause I bought it from Pat and she is going to send me the instructions which somehow escaped the original package. If I can't figure it out from there I will once again try a phone call. We seem to be doing a LOT of sewing lately.

Thanks,
Jacqueline
