This subject has come up many times, but I'm asking again. We usually go to JoAnns Fabrics when we need to find sequin pins for stretching, but they are getting harder to find lately and I want stainless, anyway. Anyone have a catalogue source or online source? And UMS, how about offering them in bulk for us?

Diane,
A quick search comes up with Steinlauf & Stoller, Inc. in NYC
877-869-0321
Stainless satin pins (part 1971) boxes of 5000/ $20.00
$50.00 minimum or $5.00SC + UPS

Quite the quantity, but beats the heck out of the price from JoAnn's per pin.

Just placed an order with them.

Thanks, Wally, I'll give it a shot. My JoAnns has been out the last 2 times I needed them, and all the on-line sources I found sold small quantities and no onehad more than 2 small packages in stock...not enough to bother with shipping.

I just wonder who counts out 5000 pins for each box?

Way back in the early 70's before drywall screws started to be used by more folks than just drywallers we were using them in our fledgling cabinet business. I found a source for some locally that sold in quanity of 5000 and seems like they cost even more then, than today. Anyhow when my employee came back from picking them up, we were amazed at how few 5000 appeared to be in the bag. Long story short, we counted them and there were only a little over 3000. When we called to complain (since they were sold by pc. and not weight) we got quite an attitude from the seller, "who x#o#x counts out the screws anyhow, we just weigh them. Well says we, you should have said you sell them by the lb. then. He gave us our missing 2000 screws. What you won't do to save a few bucks when your twenty something.:o

So who counts out these 5000 pins? Unless it is a robot, I would guess nobody does.

You don't actually count them, you weigh them with a counting scale. You weigh one of whatever and click a button to tell the scale that that is one, then put more on the scale until it tells you the amount that you want.

You can have JoAnns special order them for you if you need them.

Thanks, Wally, for this information. I was running low of the nickle plated brass pins that I use for stretching needleart and hadn't found anyone local that carries them. I bought a box of t-pins from my local framing supplier but they were fairly expensive and I'm used to using the straight pins. I e-mailed Steinlauf & Stoller and they also carry the nickle plated brass pins ($9.40 for a 1/2 pound box). Best of all, they ship to Canada!
