WOW Framer
Customer comes in today with a little print cut out of a book long ago - it looks like a reproduction of an ink drawing (as opposed to an engraving or a woodblock) with the Chruist Child floating in the sky with flames surrounding him and a man beholding this vision. The man has a wide-brimmed hat, a cloak and is carrying a shepher's staff. The man looks very LOTR.
The Babe is in the upper left of the image and the man is in the lower right.
My customer believes this is an illustration of the Robert Southwell poem called The Burning Babe (google this poet - he was drawn and quartered and martyred about 500 years ago!).
So let me know if this image sounds familiar to anyone - in the bottom left of the print is a chop mark that looks like a silhouette of a flamingo inside a C which is inside a box and there are also two v's inside the C. There is also something printed in the margin, may be "WASH" or perhaps "W&Sil" - it is kinda small and hard to distinguish.
Would like a larger version of this image if possible.
