I am working on an order with two pocket watches each in their own opening and mounted on suede board. the mat will be lifted...but it is the securing of the watches to the suede mount I need help with...Any suggestions?

I have secured watches using either a fine thread or wire (the color of the watch) through the loop where the fob attaches to the watch and then through the mat board. Secure the watch chain the same way.

thank you for that...I was planning on using a light fishing line...but I do have some quilters thread. this is quite a nice project as one of the watches has the key to wind the watch attached with embrodery floss.

Might want to match the embrodery floss color and use it instead of the clear plastic line. Might give it an "older" feel. Just a thought. Have a happy weekend!

Some of Jim Miller's clear film mounting techniques for objects were recently featured in an article in PFM. I believe it showed a watch being mounted.

EZTach is handy for a lot of objects, and might work well for a pocket watch. The tricky part is locating the mounts so that the watch can not move around in the mount, as any movement would affect the texture of the suede mat background. So, it's important to attach it securely.

That article shows a compass, which is a lot like a pocket watch with its cover open.

Maybe this is the sort of clear film strap mount you want...
