Scissors

I bought a 3 piece set of scissors from United Manufacturers. They came with a box for safekeeping and that is where I keep them...unless I see my employee using them as a screwdriver or awl. I will look in their catalog and get you the brand.

I believe the set from United was Dahle. I bought them years ago and they are my absolute favorites! The heavy duty ones cut through matboard and the very tiny fine ones are great for sewing and snipping (I made a leather case for these and carry them in my purse at all times).

They beat the heck out of any Fiskars I have ever had and I have almost as many scissors as I do screwdrivers.

You are right Mar, the brand is Dahle. The heavy duty one is the best of the bunch as an all around scissor.

Yep that's a fact Jack. The heavy duty ones will cut the tip of your finger right off. Saw that happen once.

Easily cuts through mat board too.

Wow, Mark - you must be really special - mine never came in any swell case like that. In fact, I remember it was one of those things that I had to order over and over before they actually got them back in stock.

*envious*

Reminds me of a line from an old George Carlin routine:

Do you ever hear this around your house?: "Honey, where's the good scissors?"

:popc: Rick

I bought that set of Dahle scissors for my Christmas present one year...complete with carrying case.
Another good, inexpensive utility scissor from Lee Valley

I bought a half dozen of these and have them scattered about the shop and home. Small enough to do detail work and strong enough to cut wire or prune a rose bush.
Mar, if you have trouble with temptation from the UMS catalog, don't even think about looking up Lee Valley's.

Sherry Lee, the middle one of that Dahl set, is the same one that should have come in your fabric mounting kit from Frank.....

or you can order just the one. I have cut a penny in half with one of those...

Then for REAL utility, I have a pair of Gingher Chromiums from Tandy Leather about 35 years ago.... I have probably cut about 25 miles of leather, pennies (I love doing that), chickens, ribs, copper sheet, paper . . .etc. I think I had them sharpened once.... but not sure. I just cut a snow flake with them... so still good.

I have a couple of surgical scissors left over from a couple of trips to the emergency room for stitches.
Great for cutting fine threads.

Nooooo...!!! I asked for them as they come in a kit that the Dr. opens. It seemed that they were one time instruments so i asked and he gave them to me.
Figured I was paying for them anyhow.
I always feel it never hurts to ask.
