 Looks like there is another scam going around. May only in OZ.

Two different names and gmail and yahoo accounts. Wanted gold metal frames 300 x 400 mm or in your vernacular foot by foot and 1/3.

Grammer is usually a good give away.

I am not sure what these people are trying to acheive?

I was suspect on the first email but second was obvious. Wanted 60 frames.

Would be good to clobber these jockers. :bdh:

Not sure what you mean by give up day job.

Just had a return email from the one I responded to asking for a quote for quantity.

Just wondering if their object is identity theft?

I think best thing to do is press the Delete button

Sorry about that. Couldn'f find the spell check button and it was to late to go back and edit. Aren't forums and IM's more like conversations than SAs?

I have a friend that used to get so hung up on the smallest thing being out of place in a spoken sentence and would say that is not right that is a double whatever thingamebob it should be whatever and got so hung up on the incorrect element that the conversation could not continue because the point had been forgotten or the person speaking would get to frustrated and train of thought would be interupted. He doesn't do it anymore as after a while he realised that the conversation flowed better and there was better understanding if the sentence structure was not the focus.

It is not the grammar or the spelling that is disturbing it is the fact that these people are doing what they are doing.

Was wondering if anyone knew why they are doing it and what their objective was?

 Yeah I guess. Ok I will put my other coloUred glasses on next time. Hehehe.

Sam, do a Grumble search on on "scam email" or "shinny gold frames" and you will find the entire story of how they make money from scamming the poor framers. There is a sticky about the same thing at the top of this forum also.

These type of scams have been around our parts for several years now - perhaps they have only just discovered there are framers in OZ upon whom to prey!

Thanks Guys..........don't often look up there at the top..........will have to do it more often..........I would love to spend way more time on the grumble but I am so busy trying to keep up don't have time to go dig too much............one of the other reasons a spalling error slips thru I guess............I have had the busiest three weeks since I purchased the business and it seems to keep coming in..........go figure..........these scamers should get a real job and earn an honest living.

These scammers are hitting artists now too. One of my artist friends got all excited that some guy in Arizona wanted to price out a couple of her pieces he had seen on her website. Said he was leaving the country in a few days but that he would send her a cashier's check.

She was so happy and excited to finally have some interest through her website - now she is very disappointed and wanted to know how anyone could trust any potential sale from an online connection. I told her a lot of eBay sellers, for instance, use PayPal.

They are saying a church in Belgium now and yes still using a freight company when ready to proceed with order.

I sent response back saying that it would be cheaper to order the frames in their local area. Never heard back.

I also contacted yahoo and gmail and asked them to remove these peoples email accounts. I figure they will create new ones for themselves but figure it will slow them down and maybe cause a small degree of annoyance.

PT Barnum may not have actually said "There is a sucker born every minute," but it is a seemingly true statement - so the scammers and the con artists just keep trying.

Be careful out there!

:)

The big question is does any one ever fall for it and send the frames off? There are better ways to make a living.

Had Confirmation from yahoo that they have taken appropriate action but wouldn't disclose if the account was deleted or not due to privacy.
