ok all you pin experts!!

I have a question - if you have to put pins into a frame job (dressmaker type pins) what are the best kind?

I've always heard that Nikel or Stainless Steel were the best because they won't rust - but was recently told that they DO rust because they sauter the heads on, and that Brass is better.

Does anyone know the truth of this?

thanks!

hey Steph! My friend!

I've been MIA for a little while. You know, sometimes life just bogs you down...

I'll check it out - thanks!

Yes, the head of a pin is soldered onto the shaft, and stainless steel pins can rust at that point. Consider that when using pins, the joint of the head & shaft is the point in contact with the fabric.

I use nickel-plated brass pins because the nickel plating covers the solder, and it will not rust.

so threy are ok if they are nickel plated then? thank you!
